Kirchdorf am Inn parish church, 2006
Description
The organ in Kirchdorf am Inn is inspired by the organ in Hart bei Pischelsdorf from 1628, built by Konrad Zerndl from Burghausen. The Kirchdorf organ has a fundamental, vocal sound that is well suited to powerful congregational singing.
Appearance and design
- The organ house is stylistically characterized by early Baroque or late Renaissance, with a wide and flat facade.
- Pipes from Praestant 8′ (C-d³) are placed in the facade.
- The cabinet, including ornaments, is about 5.7 meters high, 3.2 meters wide and 76 centimeters deep.
- The two stops of the pedal are placed on a weather box behind the organ case.
- The longest barrel is about 4.4 meters long, while the shortest measures 33 millimeters.
- The organ has a total of 563 pipes, including a small blind pipe in the façade to create symmetry.
Mechanics
- Suspended mechanics.
- Mechanical register mechanics.
- Scope: manual C-d³, pedal C-d¹.
Pipework
- Scales and intonation follow the North German Baroque tradition.
- All pipes from tenor c and upwards are placed in a ternary arrangement.
- All metal pipes are made of various high lead alloys and are hammered.
Air system
- The air pressure is 78 mm water column.
Subpoena
- The organ is tuned in Kellner’s “Bach” temperament – a mild, olive temperament that favors the most common keys.

“The Principal Choir has a "vocal" character, very inspiring and polyphonic, the flutes are very singing and pleasant. The Trombone of the Pedal gives the instrument a weight beyond all expectations. ”
